Pre-Professional Student Ambassadors - Application Open

The Pre-Professional Advising Office is looking for high achieving UGA undergraduate
students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year that are pursuing professional
programs to be a Pre-Professional Student Ambassador.
Pre-Professional Student Ambassadors (PPSA) will work directly with the Pre-Professional
Advising Office to build an inclusive community for pre-health and pre-law students
at UGA. The role of a PPSA is to connect students to campus resources, provide peer
support, professional development opportunities, and guidance. Additionally, they
will promote the Pre-Professional Advising Office across campus and work with campus
partners for collaboration and outreach.

South College PA Information Session
South College - Atlanta campus will hold an information session via Zoom on Monday, January 30th, 2023, at 4pm. Samantha Stebbins, Admissions Coordinator for the Physician Assistant program will
give an overview of their school, application/admission process, and provide helpful
resources to upcoming applicants.

Pre-Med Mission Statement Workshop

Are you planning to apply to medical school in the upcoming cycle? Do you dread thinking
about writing your personal statement? Attend this Mission Statement Workshop on Monday, January 30th, from 5 PM – 6:30 PM via Zoom. The medical schools you will apply to have mission statements, and so should you.
Writing a personal mission statement will help you define and focus on your values
and goals and help you determine if a medical school is a good fit for you. According
to indeed.com, your mission statement assists you in “creat[ing] boundaries that make
decision-making easier [and help you] to see whether your decisions align with your
long-term goals.” This exercise will also help as you begin to craft your personal
statement for your application.

Introductory Pre-Med Orientation

The Pre-Professional Advising Office will offer an Introductory Pre-Med Orientation on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM via Zoom. This introductory orientation is designed to provide freshman/sophomore pre-medical
students and those recently deciding to have a premed intent with information concerning
prerequisites, shadowing/volunteering, etc.

Pre-Health Mentorship Panel

Mentorship is an integral part of personal and professional success.
Join the Pre-Professional Advising Office and the UGA Mentor Program as they facilitate
a panel of mentors in the health profession and pre-health mentees eager to share
their experiences and guidance with you! The virtual panel will be held from 5:00
to 6:00 p.m., February 8. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for the UGA

2023 Health Professions Fair
The Pre-Professional Advising Office will be holding a Health Professions Fair on
Tuesday, February 28th from 11:00am-3:00pm in Tate Grand Hall .
The goal of the Health Professions Fair is to provide UGA Pre-Health students the
opportunity to connect directly with admissions representatives from health professional
schools across the country. Students are highly encouraged to stop by and chat with
representatives from a variety of health care programs.
This is your opportunity to ask questions, show your interest and to learn more about
all the different programs available. This Fair will include representatives from
medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, allied health, physician associate, nursing,
and pharmacy programs.

Health in South Africa Winter Break Program 2023-2024
The Office of Global Engagement and the Pre-Professional Advising Office are proud
to offer our pre-health students an opportunity to study abroad in South Africa! The
Health in South Africa Winter Break Program is intended for UGA students who plan
to pursue careers in healthcare and who are working actively toward this goal. Participants
will have the opportunity to learn about the South African healthcare system through
shadowing, guest lectures, round table discussions, tours of healthcare facilities,
and other related activities. In addition to these experiences, participants will
enroll in BIOL 4910 (Advanced Topics in Biology) for 3-credit hours.

- Gain perspective on international healthcare while also increasing your cultural competency
- Engage with South African professionals within various areas of healthcare
- Acquire new observational skills, analysis, and critical thinking through experiential
