The Office of Global Engagement and the Pre-Professional Advising Office are proud to offer our pre-health students an opportunity to study abroad in South Africa! The Health in South Africa Winter Break Program is intended for UGA students who plan to pursue careers in healthcare and who are working actively toward this goal. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the South African healthcare system through shadowing, guest lectures, round table discussions, tours of healthcare facilities, and other related activities. In addition to these experiences, participants will enroll in BIOL 4910 (Advanced Topics in Biology) for 3-credit hours.

It will prompt you with relevant experience categories based on your pre-professional field and help identify the skills each activity develops. You can also maintain a journal of your experiences for use in personal statements and mock interviews. Furthermore, you can export this information to an Excel document for easy integration into your professional school application.
