Join us for a presentation on the law school resume on Tuesday, March 19th from 4:30pm – 5:30pm in the Miller Learning Center (MLC), Room 275. Learn more about what to include in your resume and best practices for crafting
a law school resume. This event is ideal for those that plan to apply to law schools
in the 2024-2025 cycle.
Brenau University PA Information Session
The Pre-Professional Advising Office is excited to host Dr. Jamie Cushway, Director of
Graduate Admissions and Admissions Counselor for the Brenau University Physician Assistant
Studies Program. Dr. Cushway will present on their new PA program, which was founded
in 2021, with their first graduating class in April 2023. This presentation will be
held on Wednesday, March 20th at 5pm via Zoom and will cover the program requirements, application cycle, and what they look for
in a candidate. Come prepared with questions!

Virtual Drop-in Hours with Medical Students (MCG)
Interested in meeting and getting advice from current medical students? Medical students from the AU/UGA Medical Partnership Campus will be holding virtual
drop-ins Wednesday, March 20th from 7:00pm-8:30pm. All questions are welcome including how to build a resume, how to pursue shadowing,
how to study for the MCAT, what medical school is like, etc. (Ask the M1s about what
it was like to do an MMI style interview!!)

Panel with UGA Law 3Ls
Want to know how professional development works in law school? Several current 3Ls
at the University of Georgia School of Law will participate in a panel pm Thursday, March 21st from 5:00pm – 6:00pm in the Miller Learning Center (MLC), Room 348. They will share their experiences as law school students. Topics covered will include
clinics, externships, on-campus interviews, bar prep, the Career Development Office,
and much more. This event is open to all interested students.
Navy Virtual Drop-ins
A Recruiter for the US Navy will hold drop-ins on Monday, March 25th from 11:30AM – 1:00PM. They will discuss the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), a program designed to assist students with paying for medical, dental, PA,
nursing school, etc., while also training to become a commissioned officer in the
US Navy.

Yale School of Medicine Presentation
Are you curious about what it is like to attend an Ivy? Do you want to know about

information session to learn more about Yale SOM on Tuesday, March 26th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in MLC 267. The two Assistant Directors of Admissions, Nancy Barrett & Vincent Pellicone, will
attend. Their information session will discuss the Yale System of Medical Education,
Research, Student Life, our home in New Haven, CT, Financial Aid, and more. Did you
know Yale SOM is one of the few medical schools requiring students to complete a Research Thesis? If you are interested in research, Yale SOM offers its students additional research

PPSA Coffee Hour March 26th

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine Tour & Info Session
Are you a student who is 1st Gen and/or part of a minoritized community and are interested
in Pre-Veterinary Medicine? The Pre-Professional Advising Office, Career Center and
the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine would like to invite interested pre-vet students
to tour the Veterinary Teaching Hospital on March 27th from 10am - 1pm. Participating students will have the opportunity learn more about the vet program
and hear from a panel of vet students. This panel will also include an admissions
representative. After the overview, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.
Registration on Handshake is now open. Space is limited, and spots will be on a first-come,
first-served basis. You will receive an email confirmation if you have secured a
spot or placed on the waiting list.

Brenau University Info Session: PT & OT
Are you interested in entering a graduate program in the field of physical therapy
or occupational therapy? Join us on Thursday, March 28th from 6-7 P.M. via Zoom. We will hear from Dr. Jim Lewis, PT, DPT, ATC, and Dr. Charles Shadle, PPOTD, OTR/L
and learn about the graduate programs that Brenau University has to offer. Dr. Lewis
is a University of Georgia alum where he majored in exercise and sports science, and
also obtained his certification and license as an athletic trainer. He earned his
physical therapy degree from Georgia State University and has been practiced in the
field of physical therapy for over 30 years. His clinical experience includes a focus
on musculoskeletal and joint-related injury of the extremities and spine, and he has
11 years of experience in clinic management. Dr. Lewis has been teaching at Brenau
University since 2014 and was recently promoted to full professor. Dr. Charles Shadle
is an Associate Professor and Site Coordinator in the School of Occupational Therapy
at Brenau University. He has been an OT for over 25 years. He graduated with a BSOT
from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998 and received his doctorate from the University
of Saint Augustine in 2014. He has extensive experience in hospital-based occupational
therapy services, neurological rehabilitation, and pediatric occupational therapy.

Day in the Life of a Genetic Counselor Instagram Takeover
Carly Smith, MGC is a Perinatal Genetic Counselor in the Fetal and Pregnancy Health
Program at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health in Palo Alto, CA. She works clinically
counseling on complex fetal anomalies and caring for families undergoing fetal therapy
as part of a multidisciplinary team. Carly teaches residents and fellows at Stanford
Medicine about prenatal genetic concepts as well as a role play course for genetic
counseling students at Stanford University. Her research interests include elucidating
genetic etiologies of fetal anomalies and the experiences of those patients/families
and the role of genetic services within a fetal center. She earned a Bachelor of Science
from the University of Georgia followed by a Master of Genetic Counseling from the
Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Carly has a passion for mentoring prospective
students and trainees during their clinical programs. She is looking forward to taking
over the @ugaprehealth Instagram on Tuesday, April 2nd from 11:00 A.M. - 8 P.M.
PCOM College of Osteopathic Medicine Information Session
The Pre-Professional Advising Office is excited to host Ashley Adcock - Associate
Director of Admissions from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) –
Suwanee Campus on Wednesday, April 3rd @ 4pm via Zoom. PCOM embraces a holistic approach to patient care and an interprofessional collaboration
with other healthcare teams. If you are interested in applying to a PA program in
Georgia that teaches treating the whole person and not just the symptoms, then join
us for this presentation. Ms. Adcock and her team will discuss program requirements,
deadlines, qualities of strong applicants and much more. Come prepared with questions.

Health in South Africa

The Office of Global Engagement and the Pre-Professional Advising Office are proud
to offer our pre-health students an opportunity to study abroad in South Africa! The
Health in South Africa Winter Break Program is intended for UGA students who plan
to pursue careers in healthcare and who are working actively toward this goal. Participants
will have the opportunity to learn about the South African healthcare system through
shadowing, guest lectures, round table discussions, tours of healthcare facilities,
and other related activities. In addition to these experiences, participants will
enroll in BIOL 4910 (Advanced Topics in Biology) for 3-credit hours. This program
runs from December 12th – December 23rd.

Mock Interviews & MMIs
The Pre-Professional Advising Office (PPAO) and the Career Center will continue to
offer Mock Interviews and Mock MMIs for students who have been invited to interview
at a health professional school. The PPAO will conduct the mock MMIs, and the Career
Center will conduct the mock interviews. If you have been invited to interview with
