During the virtual presentation, you'll have the chance to learn more about the medical school, its students, and the admissions process. Health in CubaCuba

The Office of Global Engagement and the Pre-Professional Advising Office are proud to offer our pre-health students an opportunity to study abroad in Cuba! The Health in Cuba Program is intended for UGA students who plan to pursue careers in healthcare and who are working actively toward this goal.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Cuban healthcare system through guest lectures, round table discussions, tours of healthcare facilities, and other related activities. In addition to these experiences, participants will enroll in BIOL 4910 (Advanced Topics in Biology) for 3-credit hours.

  • Gain perspective on international healthcare while also increasing your cultural competency
  • Engage with Cuban professionals within various areas of healthcare
  • Acquire new observational skills, analysis, and critical thinking through experiential activities

Health in BelizeBelizeThe Office of Global Engagement and the Pre-Professional Advising Office are proud to offer our pre-health students an opportunity to study abroad in Belize! The Health  in Belize Maymester Program is intended for UGA students who plan to pursue careers in healthcare and who are working actively toward this goal.  In this program, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Belizean health system - and how it differs from ours - through guest lectures, tours of public and private healthcare facilities, shadowing opportunities with clinicians and conversations with volunteer community healthcare workers from rural areas. In addition to these experiences, program participants will enroll in two UGA courses for 6 credit hours: 

BIOL 4910 Topics in Biology
BIOL 4940 Internship in Biology.

  • Gain perspective on international healthcare while also increasing your cultural competency
  • Learn how to work and communicate with patients from different backgrounds
  • Shadow and gain clinical experience in a way that meets AAMC’s ethical guidelines
