The documentary will be on the Third Floor of the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Services Building, 242 King Avenue, Athens. The parking lot will be available for the event at no charge to attendees.
This powerful documentary examines how a new national program developed during the modern Civil Rights Movement used Medicare to provide equal and adequate access to healthcare for all Americans, desegregating hospitals across the county. The opening of the UGA School of Medicine will surely increase interest in medicine in the Athens community. This documentary will also inspire local middle and high school students to consider healthcare careers.
The UGA PPAO encourages students and community members to attend this event. ACC Transit has a stop in front of the hospital for UGA students without personal transportation.
