Interested in a career in dentistry or optometry? Lise Kalla, pre-dental and pre-optometry advisor, will host an orientation to help you get on track right away! Building a strong application takes time. Find out what you need to get started on today so that you will have success in the future. This event will be held Tuesday, August 19th, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m., via Zoom.

The Pre-Professional Advising Office will offer a Pre-Med Orientation on Wednesday, August 20th, from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM via Zoom.  This introductory orientation will provide information to first-year, second-year, transfer students, and those who have recently decided to pursue a career in medicine, including details about prerequisites, shadowing, and clinical and nonclinical volunteering opportunities.

Thinking about a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, anesthesiologist assistant, or genetic counseling? Join the Pre-Professional Advising Office for a virtual session to learn how to build a strong foundation at UGA and set yourself up for success in these rewarding health professions! You’ll hear from Casey Ellis, UGA’s Pre-Allied Health Advisor, as she breaks down prerequisites, entrance exams, clinical experience, and more.

Are you planning to apply to medical school in May 2026? Want to know what do you still need to do before the application opens? Join us for an Applicant Orientation on Thursday, August 21, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM via Zoom. The premed advisor will take questions for participants at the end of the presentation.

Looking to Make a Difference Outside of Medicine? Join us on Thursday, August 21st from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM via Zoom, for a virtual spotlight on Athens-Oconee CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an organization committed to improving the lives of children in foster care in Clarke and Oconee counties. Learn directly from CASA staff about their mission, the impact of their work, and how you can get involved as a volunteer. Whether you’re exploring non-medical service opportunities or want to support your community, this is a great chance to connect with a cause that matters.

The Pre-Professional Advising Office is offering a Pre-Vet Orientation on Monday, August 25 @ 7pm via Zoom.  Introductory Orientations are designed to provide freshman/sophomore Pre-Vet students with information concerning pre-requisites, shadowing/volunteering, animal experience, research etc. You will meet the Pre-Vet advisor and learn about our office.

Congratulations to Taz Qadri, the winner of the 2024 Excellence in Innovation Award! Ms. Qadri has been a part of the Pre-Professional Advising Office since 2018, where she primarily supports our pre-veterinary and pre-PA students. She oversees our Health Disparities and Equity Certificate program, and she developed our Bioethics and Healthcare program and our First Responder Health Disparity Awareness Program (FRHDA).

The Pre-Professional Advising Office (PPAO) and the Career Center will continue to offer Mock Interviews and Mock MMIs for students who have been invited to interview at a health professional school. The PPAO will conduct the mock MMIs, and the Career Center will conduct the mock interviews.
