Extracurricular & Leadership Activities

Law schools will assess an applicant’s achievement in extracurricular activities in college. Get involved in something that genuinely interests you. Quality over quantity is key. Take on a leadership role. This demonstrates commitment and a depth of involvement. Your extracurricular activities do not have to relate to the law. Do what you enjoy!

Volunteer your time with a student organization or community organization. This shoes a commitment to service and your willingness to invest in your campus and community.

The student organizations listed below are popular with pre-law students. Many students will attend law school without being involved in the organizations listed. Do what works best for you and suits your interests.

  • Mock Trial – “Throughout our fall & spring seasons we send teams to compete against other universities in tournaments across the country. This past year, our program placed seventh at Nationals, a huge feat in the mock trial community. UGA Mock Trial has now placed within the top ten at Nationals for the past two years. We’re ranked among the top fifteen teams in the country, and we pride ourselves on our continued success by recruiting and retaining talented members.”

It offers a range of resources, including academic support such as study groups and LSAT preparation, networking opportunities with law students and professionals, and various activities aimed at professional development, like mock trial competitions and legal workshops. Members also engage in community service and philanthropic activities related to the legal field while having the chance to assume leadership roles within the organization. KAPi serves as a valuable platform for individuals seeking to explore and excel in the legal profession during their college years.
