The University of Georgia School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pathway for students interested in entering the nursing profession. Current UGA students interested in applying to the program should plan to complete specific prerequisite coursework while also progressing toward at least 60 credit hours of UGA Core IMPACTS coursework.

Because the program is new and admissions requirements are evolving, prerequisite expectations vary slightly depending on the anticipated application year. Students should review the appropriate prerequisite list below and work closely with their academic advisor when planning coursework.

Choosing a Major at UGA

Students interested in the UGA School of Nursing will apply through an intended nursing pathway, meaning students are not required to declare a specific major in order to apply to the program. Your major at UGA does not determine your eligibility for admission to the nursing program.

Because of this, students are encouraged to choose a major they genuinely enjoy and are motivated to succeed in academically, while also completing the required nursing prerequisite coursework. Pursuing a field that interests you can help you stay engaged in your studies and maintain strong academic performance.

It is also important to remember that nursing admission is competitive. For this reason, students should consider selecting a major they would feel comfortable completing and potentially pursuing as a career if their plans change or if they decide not to pursue nursing.
